What is the punishment for statutory in Canada?
The punishment for statutory depends. It can be between a few months and around seven years, all depending on the case. For example when I was 14 I had with an 18 year old, and it was completely consensual. Therefore my parents didn't press charges against him even though that was illegal and could be considered statutory anyways if my parents had decided to press charges. The fact that it was consensual really saved his a s s. This story sounds like it was not consensual . And compare it to my story; I was 14, really close to 15. My boyfriend had just turned 18. 3/4 years isn't that much of a difference. Though it was consensual, he still should have thought about how it may hurt him if the police found out because he was a legal adult at the time. Regardless, he was not that much older than I was. This man is 12 years older than this girl. That's extremely inappropriate, and by the age of 27, you should know that having with a girl under the age of consent is not a good idea. If the girl's parents press charges against him and the girl claims that it was force and not consensual, the man will most likely get at least 3+ years in prison. I'd say at least 5-7 years but it depends on what the court decides, what the full story is, and what this man's criminal history is like.
