What is going on that the government isn't telling us?

What is going on is that Obama has absolutely no experience running anything much less a country. There are certain treaties and agreements others have made in the past or laws in place that he must honor and work through. If he had any knowledge of politics and foreign affairs he would not have made those promises he made on the campaign trail. The world is not a brady bunch place where we can all think happy thoughts and it will all resolve itself. Somethings can't be undone without a major disaster. Our laws make it so that no One man has too much power. You have to work with what you've got and he came to realize that really quickly.
